Nova Scotia Trails Federation Trail Patrol Program In 2008, the Nova Scotia Trails Federation (NS Trails), All Terrain Vehicle Association (ATVANS), Snowmobilers Association of Nova Scotia (SANS), Nova Scotia Offroad Riders Association (NSORRA), joined forces to form one integrated trail patrol program. The upgraded integrated program has proven popular among trail enthusiasts. Since announcing the new program this spring, close to a 100 new trail wardens have received training and the goal for 2009 is to train an additional 100 wardens.
Wardens are public
relations officers. They are not enforcement officers, although they may work
closely with local police and DNR enforcement officers. Wardens patrol trails
and monitor trail conditions and watch for potential hazards. Many wardens have
first aid training and will assist where possible until emergency response teams
arrive. The Mid-Valley ATV Club is a supporter of this program and has at present seven trained Trail Wardens in the club. They will start patrolling the various trails this spring. Basic Trail Etiquette
